The current online training delivery course at Sheffield City College is excellent. So far it's provided excellent ideas for online delivery - interactive tasks, multiple-choice questions, discussion forms, and chat groups. All this is very useful for the busy professionals who wishes to update their knowledge and skills, as part of their CPD.
Also, it will be really useful for both my own consultancy and L & D work, and for Brass Tacks for managers.
With the advent of social media, virtual classrooms, mobile learning and more, there is more focus on a blended learning design which takes advantage of all that the future has to offer. But which of these tools are a fad, and which are here long term? When should each be used? What are your views, please?

On-line learning and development
Busy professionals need short, bite-sized chunks of learning, so because learning and development is a journey rather than a destination, I've recently embarked on an on-line study course to gain news skills in on-line learning delivery.
The course is aimed to equip practitioners, like me, with increased skills to deliver training on-line. So far the course is excellent - delivered by Sheffield City College, I'm one of a cohort of 10 other professionals, all seeking to gain increased skills and learning new and different approaches to on-line learning. More to follow.

On-line learning
In today's business world where most professionals appear to be prisoners of time, on-line learning and development seems to be the way forward.
I'm currently developing an exciting on-line learning package which can be accessed from users' smart phones and used effectively to claim CPD. It is concise, subject specific and assessed by multiple choice questions.
To be effective, learning and development needs to be accessible with ease and not encroach on the users' busy lives.
